Second meeting with medical specialists and health mediators – this time from Eastern Bulgaria municipalities: Aytos (Chukarka), Peshtera, Karlovo (Rosino and Hristo Danovo), Kotel (Gradetz), Sliven (Sotirya), Tvarditza (Shivachevo) and Straldja (Muglizh) took place on 12 and 13 February 2016 in Stara Zagora. These are a part of populated places on recently started project of Bulgarian Association for Family Planning and Sexual Health (BFPA) „Mission possible: Better sexual and reproductive health for young people from vulnerable communities – ways of overcoming health inequalities”.
This, as well last month conducted in Sofia first working meeting with teams by places made clear details of activities on project. Needed obligatory documentation on project, the specific role and obligations of health mediators, terms of implementing were implemented. It was also discussed on possible difficulties of the work with the specific target group.
With this the project is going into its essential part – work of the formed teams by places.
Among the main activities to be implemented are testing on sexual transmitted infections, including HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Trihomoni, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The project is to raise the information and requesting specific services, connected with family planning and sexual and reproductive health. The teams by places are going to work using educational, informational and community approach and as a result to change behavior of young people from marginalized groups. More than 3000 people is expected to benefit by activities.
Representatives of BFPA and NNHM took participation.
The project is implementing in a partnership with National Network of Health Mediators (NNHM) and is for young people aged 10-19 years from highly marginalized communities in 14 populated places of 13 municipalities in 8 areas.
