Supporting Women who Suffered from Domestic Violence
Victims of domestic violence usually hide their faces – ashamed that they let that happen to them, being out of fear that they will be found and hurt again. How often do we come across them on the streets, at the grocery store, in the elevator, without suspecting what they have gone trough.
The exhibition of Yana Peneva from 6th to 8th March in Credo Bonum Gallery tries to show the chaos of thoughts and emotions of women, victims of violence, with whom specialists form PULSE Foundation work.
In the eve of International Women’s Day, 8th March, BeCause Foundation appeals for solidarity towards women suffered from domestic violence. Donate here
National Research: Attitudes towards LGBT students
Over 50% from school’s personnel use offensive language against LGBTs. When hearing offensive language they do not react, do not signal; students who raise the issue about offensive language as a rule just receive advice to ignore. The problem is that people don’t recognize the offensive language as a problem. The support at school has to be at personal but also at administrative level.
„There are awards for teachers whose students win Olympics, but there are no awards for teacher who is a role model for philanthropic behavior”, shared during the presentation Trayan Trayanov from Together in Class Initiative. "The teacher is successful when students learn, but not when curriculum has just been followed.”
National research „Attitudes towards LGBT students in Bulgarian schools” was presented officially in Sofia on March 6th, 2020. The authors – Single Step Foundation and Bilitis Resource Centre – will share the results with the Ministry of Education. Among main recommendations from the research, in which 880 respondents 14-19 were participated are integrating the topic in school’s policies, as well working with teachers and directors, with students and parents.
