Campaign of the British Embassy, supported by BFPA
Sofia, February 22-23 2017
On February 22 and 23 the British Ambassador Emma Hopkins and Janet Amir, regional manager of National Crime Agency, are hosting a two-day regional workshop in Sofia dedicated to tackling #ModernSlavery. Ambassador Hopkins said: "I am proud and excited to host this UK-led workshop. We are working with NCA and our regional partners to increase intelligence capability across the region and to defeat this despicable crime together."
During the regional #ModernSlavery workshop in Sofia, experts from around the region presented their work and shared best practices for increasing intelligence capacity. Modern slavery is the illegal exploitation of people for personal or commercial gain. It comes in many different forms. Fighting #ModernSlavery is a priority for the UK Government- using all our resources to make it a thing of the past. In its activities in Bulgaria the British embassy relies on its partners and is publishing on its page one-minute videos with statements of the main of them. In the second of our videos with partners, Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova from the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) shares the Association's priorities for tackling #ModernSlavery and the importance of protecting young people in a vulnerable position.
