Sliven, November 3-4, 2016
A two-day workshop, part of the prolongation of the Keep me Safe project of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) took place in Sliven in November 3-4, 2016. Organizations from Sliven and Yambol working with and for young people with special educational needs participated in it.
One of the aims of the project is to increase the organizations’ work on prevention of sexual violence and harassment creating a supportive environment for the young people with learning disabilities and conditions for appropriate health educational sessions.
The workshop was an upgrading follow-up for the representatives of the five organizations. Part of them were trained in interactive techniques and exercises during the active phase of implementing the project (2013–2015).
Main topic this time was how to initiate internal organizational changes for improving the work connected with reproductive health and prevention of sexual abuse.
Maria Gineva, chair of Future for the children Association in Kazanlak, shared experience and good practices as a follow up of changed attitudes of the staff and some parents and internal organizational policies after the implemented two years ago training. New developed materials on hygiene and prevention of infections were presented. The BFPA team - Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova, Ralitsa Zgalevska and Daniela Dikova together with the Center for Humanе Policies president Julia Georgieva, who was very dynamic and attractive in the ‘Drugs and Addictions’ part conducted the interactive training.
During 2016 BFPA currently supports organizations with which was working on Keep me Safe project. The next upgrading training is to be implemented for organizations from Lovech and the region at the end of November.
KEEP ME SAFE is a two year (2013–2015) European initiative, coordinated by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and co-financed by European Commission (DJ Justice – Program Daphne III).
