Study visit in Germany and Austria under the Keep me Safe project

From 19 to 23 May 2014 four representatives of BFPA – Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova, Executive Director; Ventzislav Kirkov, Program Manager; Daniela Dikova, Family Planning  Counseling Centre Manager  and Advisory Nurse; and  Ralitsa Zgalevska, Project Coordinator, were at study visit in the centers of the German partner on Keep me Safe –  Pro Familia. The visit took place in Bavaria and Austria.

Perdita Wingerter from Pro Familia Passau, included in the agenda visiting of long years experienced organizations and meetings with experts actively working with people with disabilities in the area of social practices and services.
 

BavariaHerzogsägmühle  

A community for people with different level of disabilities and marginalization in Upper Bavaria. Meeting and conversation with the project managers Martina Krone and Ingo Massel – on organization of the work, different activities and opportunities, as well as with Jürgen Hartung, therapeutic paedagogue, about his long-standing work with people with disabilities. People with any kinds of disabilities are included in the labor therapy. Gardening, farming and different handicrafts are developed. Some of the activities are organized as small manufactures and the produced commodities and provisions are sold in the market of the community for people from the region. The community is established in 1894.

Augsburg
Pro Familia, Augsburg 

Meeting with Heidi Walter, sexual pedagogue and counsellor – detailed information about the activities of the center for consulting young couples and people with disabilities. Presenting the main methods of work.

 

IngolstadtPro Familia, Ingolstadt 

Shared experience, methods and difficulties faced in the process of work in conversation with Eva Sidram, psychotherapist and counselor, who works for and with people with disabilities for relatively short time.

 

Nurnberg
Kassandra project, Nürnberg  

A program for educating social assistances. Meeting and conversation about the project with Jova Ganeva, psychologist and social worker, Marion Quant and Christina Stoeckel, trainees. Information shared about the main activities of the center: psychosocial consultations, information about the prevention of sexual transmitted infections, mutual work with instances working on addictions and prostitution, outreach work.

Nurnberg

Pro Familia, Nürnberg 

Meeting with Annemarie Rufer – president of pro familia Bavaria, and Simone Hartmann – sexual pedagogue and consultant for educational programs and services for people with disabilities. Conversation on the activities, methods of working, difficulties, including overcoming stereotypical attitudes.

 Passau

Pro Familia Passau  

Experience connected with the activities of the local branch of the organization and the services for people with disabilities shared. Meeting with Perdita Wingerter – manager and   Gaby Magg-Kastenhuber – counsellor, sex pedagogue with longstanding practice.

Passau

 

Lebenshilfe Passau  

Home and working place for people with disabilities, some of which requiring permanent care. Meeting and conversation with the Head of the residental home Heinrich Gottinger and social pedagogue and QM-manager Markus Ubelhor about the structure of the organization and methods of work.

 Linz

SENIA, Linz  

 Center for services for people with disabilities. Meeting and conversation about the history of founding and methods of work with Anna Wolfesberger, director.

As a frame for the activities of the projects IPPF uses two documents: Sexual Rights: Declaration of IPPF and UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

BFPA survey about positive birth-rate measures

Sofia, December 5, 2022 

The Bulgarian Association for Family Planning and Sexual Health (BFPA) presented the results of a nationally representative survey conducted by KANTAR. The study took place in August 2022, among a sample of 836 people from the adult population and analyzed the measures that would positively affect the birth rate.

Final conference on ARIE project: PLHIV and fitness

Sofia, November 11, 2022

On November 11, 2022, the final conference of the ARIE project was held in Sofia. The project is supported by the Erasmus+ Sport program, led by the long-standing Italian partner of BFPA ANLAIDS – Lombardia. The rest of the participating organizations are from Bulgaria, Greece, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia. The activities are aimed at people living with HIV (PLHIV), the goal of the project is to develop and introduce a fitness program and an activity protocol for people living with HIV. In Bulgaria the project was coordinated by Boyan Mladenov from the BFPA team. Among the participants of the conference were health specialists, professors from medical universities, NGO partners, representatives of the target group. From the Bulgarian side the most outstanding was the presentation of Prof. Radka Argirova “HIV,Covid and Monkeypox - what more we have to know”
The project aims to promote physical activity in the form of personalized guidelines among people between the ages of 18 and 50 who are living with HIV and who are on treatment, offering an innovative fitness protocol to engage them in moderate physical activity.
This is the first project in Europe specifically targeting people living with HIV and fitness to promote a healthy lifestyle and add fitness protocols to HIV therapy.

 
Presentation of the results of a regional study and recommendations for SRH services in the European Parliament - project "Youth Voices, Youth Choices"

Brussels, October 26, 2022

In the last months of 2022 the partners of the YVYC project, together with experts and young people, developed recommendations for regional policy recommendations for improvement of health and social systems and SRHR services for young people after the Covid 19 pandemic.
The recommendations are targeting decision-makers at international and national institutions.  They were presented in the European Parliament on October 26, 2022 by young advocates and experts, with the support of MEP Fred Matic. Three BFPA representatives - Victoria Nikolova, Venelin Stoychev and Pavlina Filipova participated in the EP meeting.
