In 2001 BFPA was selected to be the regional coordination hub of the European Network of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. The Association implemented a project which provided methodological support and field expertise to partner organizations. The project was implemented in the following Balkan countries: Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia.
The main goal of the project was to establish a network of partner organizations in each of the mentioned countries. Among the most relevant activities was to organize a series of educational workshops, media campaigns and youth volunteers' related work from the region. The initiative was the first of its kind in the Balkans, as far as establishing a network of NGOs that work in the field of health prevention were concerned. The project was implemented between 2001 and 2003, and the partnership with other NGOs still remains functioning.
