Together against the fourth Covid wave

ParticipantsSofia, July 14-15, 2021

After we raised, trained and tested two classes of health mediators through the monitors - harvest of 2020 and 2021, on July 14 and 15 we finally had a live regional training meeting of health mediators, class 2020 and class 2021, from Western Bulgaria in Project Lab , Sofia.
Prof. Ivaylo Tarnev, Dr. Alexander Simidchiev, Assoc. Prof. Rumyan Sechkov, Dr. Antonia Valentinova, Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova and the Board of the National Network of Health Mediators were listening live the new additions to the NMHM. The specifics of the field work, the strategic partnerships on the ground and the battle for people's minds were discussed. This battle is being fought against fake news, generated rumors and the refusal to vaccinate. Dr. Simidchiev helped us in this from the position of both a pulmologist and a politician, and as a lecturer, able to convey clearly and understandably even the most complex matter. We talked about infections, about health policies, about the reliability of the sources of information, about the resistance of many health professionals against Covid vaccine prophylaxis.

PresentationDr. Valentinova, mentioned by the ITN political party as a potential minister without a portfolio on Roma issues, has supported the health mediation program since university and the mediators participating in the meeting had a good and useful experience to talk to her and formulate the problems of the communities with which they work. The last guest - Assoc. Prof. Sechkov - presented a study of the SEGA Foundation, Roma-LOM Foundation and CSD, which debunks myths and clichés related to the work of NGOs and Roma. No, in 30 years the Roma will not be more than the Bulgarians and all the money for social activities does not go to the Roma! When numbers and facts speak, both the gods and the spreaders of fake news are silent.
Similar meetings are forthcoming: at the end of August in Sliven, for the new mediators from Eastern Bulgaria, and in mid-October for those from Central Bulgaria.

We beg and urge from the bottom of our hearts: use the summer months to get vaccinated before the fourth wave of Covid in the early autumn!
