Sofia, April 7 2017
On April 7th, World Health Day, and on the eve of April 8th – International Day for remembering Roma Holocaust victims, the health minister organized an official meeting at the Council of Ministers’ Granite hall in which participated Roma medical students, young graduated doctors and their mentors, health mediators who study in different universities as well as organizations who support various educational initiatives. The distinguished achievers received honorary diplomas and had the chance to share their thoughts and emotions.
BFPA was represented by Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova and Dr. Krasimir Romanov who are part of the medical students’ mentorship program. Associate-professor Mariela Kamburova, Prof. Nevena Tzacheva, Prof. Ivailo Turnev also participated in the event along with their students. This academic year alone 10 young Roma doctors graduated and are already working and specializing. A new shift of interns are on their way but for the process to continue, support for university application exams is necessary. Education is the best instrument and the key mechanism that can alter the present and open new possibilities for a better future and for prosperity. We believe in that, it is our cause. And that’s why we support it.
